How does the education of physicians
in your medical school prepare the physicians to meet the health needs
of the community in which they serve? Are there any steps being taken to
address/rectify the situation?

Even though there are some community
medicine courses, they are not
exactly the course designed for
"response of medical schools to societal
needs". It is embarrassing that
the medical schools which I looked up
still stick to the traditional
department based education in Korea. Even the basic step of
needs assessment of the society
is not done yet at this moment. So in
conclusion I could not find any
efforts to meet the need of the society. However
many educators in medical schools
in Korea begin to realize that the
ultimate goal of the medical education
is to meet the need of the society. I think it
will take another several years
to see the substantial evidence of
changing medical education into
demand based education.
