Instruction for AuthorsScope of The Meducator These guidelines are in accordance with the "Uniform
Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals," a
document issued by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. You
can access the complete document at http://www.who.sci.eg/manuscript.htm The Meducator seeks to promote the global exchange of ideas
in medical education. It aims to provide a forum for communications, opinions,
literature reviews and original research that have particular interest to
health care professionals in emerging countries. The contents will interest
learners, teachers and health practitioners and have a potential to
significantly affect the quality of health care. The Meducator accepts papers in the following categories: Research and Development Reports of research in progress, papers presented at
conferences or scientific meetings, and reports of innovations or changes in
medical education are also welcomed in this section. Alternative structures
for these reports may be considered. These reports will be peer-reviewed. Opinions may reflect first-hand experiences and need not
necessarily be referenced to research studies or literature. They may focus on
the theme of the issue or on any medical education topic, and be up to 2,500
words. Student views and research are published in this section.
The Meducator encourages students to submit papers on any topic related to
medical education and health care. Papers may be up to 2,500 words. These are letters to the editor. Communications may be
written in relation to published articles or on any medical education topic.
Maximum length is usually 400-500 words. The author should sign the letter and
provide details of his/her position, affiliated institution (if applicable)
and address. The Meducator reserves the right to accept or reject letters and
to edit letters where appropriate. News Announcements of regional conferences, courses,
workshops and new innovations in medical schools and instructional resources
are included in this section. Maximum length is 150 words. This section includes reviews of books, CD-ROMs, websites,

focusing on prevalent diseases in specific regions. If you have materials that
may be of interest to other health professionals please contact the Editors.
The aim is to assist continuing medical education in emerging countries. This section includes instructional posters and flowcharts

Title Page The abstract should be on a separate page and should not
exceed 250 words. It should be structured to reflect the organization of the
paper, for example, context, objective(s), subjects/materials, methods,
results and conclusions. This should start on a separate page. Use appropriate
headings and subheadings. Wherever possible, both numbers of subjects and
percentages should be given. Describe the statistical method if the method is
unusual or complex. Do not duplicate the information given in the text in the
form of Tables. Number tables sequentially as Table 1, Table 2, etc. Each
table should have a title. Tables should be on separate pages after the
article. There should be a reference in the text to each table (e.g.,
"see Table 1"). When information cannot be expressed suitably in the form
of a table, use figures. Do not duplicate the information given in the text in
the form of figures. Number figures sequentially as Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.
Each figure should have a title. Figures should be on separate pages after the
article. There should be a reference in the text to each figure (e.g.,
"see Figure 1"). Make acknowledgments brief. This section may include source
of financial support. References should be numbered sequentially as they first
occur in the text, in superscript. The reference list should start on a
separate page and references should be cited in the Vancouver style and listed
numerically. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references and should
consult the detailed guide in the "Uniform Requirements." It is the
author's responsibility to ensure all references in the text are cited and all
reference numbers in the text appear in the correct order. All submissions to The Meducator are read and considered by
the Editors. Research papers will be sent to at least two independent
reviewers. Standard guidelines are used by reviewers in providing their
responses. |
